Epping into A qualifier

Epping with Jake Horgan at third, Tanner Horgan and Ian McMillan on the front end, has been one of the hottest teams on the World Curling Tour (WCT) this season.
After struggling through the first two years of this quad, John elected to switch teams and provincial representation and take over this young squad.
Epping returns to grand slam contention this season, leading the way for this team from Northern Ontario. Besides their first two events as a team, Epping has qualified for the playoffs in their last six events. Winning the KW Fall Classic, Stu Sells Toronto Tankard, and the Stu Sells Living Waters Collingwood Classic.
They faced Edmonton's Brad Jacobs in an A event game, winning the opening game draw to the button for the hammer.
This game started with many rock in play, in Epping favor, they made a runback to pick out Jacobs lone stone for thee points. The second end was more open; Jacobs scored two points with two nice freezes on Brad's stones.
Epping controlled the third end, blanking it to take the hammer into the fourth end. Epping kept the pressure, making a lightweight around a guard hit for three more points. In a two-or-shake situation, Jacobs could not find offence in the fifth end, missing a draw for his single to give up a steal of five and handshakes for an 11-2 victory for Epping.
Epping defeated Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) 9-8 in their opening game.
Epping will face the winner of Saskatoon's Mike McEwen and Duluth's Korey Dropkin for a spot in the playoffs.
