Homan Challenges Tirinzoni in Slam Quarters

Ottawa's Rachel Homan (photo: Jeffrey Au) chose Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni in the first-ever playoff draft held at the WFG Masters. Homan, with Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes, finished 3-1 in the round-robin at the WFG Masters in Guelph. For the first time, the top-ranking playoff teams were asked to choose their opponent in the draft held Friday evening after the completion of round-robin play. Sweden's Anna Hasselborg (Sundbyberg) went undefeated to claim the top spot in the 8-team single knockout playoff bracket, choosing their opponent from the winner of the tiebreaker game between Ottawa's Danielle Inglis and Momoha Tabata of Sapporo, Japan. Korea's Eunjung Kim (Gangneung) also went undefeated and chose the winner of the tiebreaker game between Japan's Satsuki Fujisawa and Kaitlyn Lawes of Winnipeg. Fourth-seed Isabella Wrana of Sundbyberg, Sweden, will face Kerri Einarson of Winnipeg in the other quarterfinals match. Tiebreaker games go at 7:30 am Eastern Time on Saturday morning, with the quarterfinals playing at 3 pm.
