With the third pick, Ross Whyte of Stirling, Scotland chose Sweden's Niklas Edin (Karlstad) as their opponent.
Fourth-seeded Bruce Mouat of Stirling was assigned the final team in the winner of the tiebreaker game between Italy's Joel Retornaz (Cembra) and Switzerland's Yannick Schwaller (Geneva).
Tiebreakers go at 7:30 pm Eastern Time in Guelph, with the quarterfinals going at 11 am ET.
