Italy's Stefania Constantini welcomes the world's best women's teams to the Cortina Curling Cup in January.
What does this event mean for promoting curling in Italy in lead up to the Olympics?
The organization of the Cortina Curling Cup is an opportunity to build and train a work
team capable of collaborating in the organization of the Olympic event. For the city of
Cortina it is a tourist offer for its guests and an opportunity to make our sport even more
known. Cortina really looks forward to watching good curling up close, something that has
not happened since the 2010 men's world championships.
What did it take to bring this event together and what will it mean to welcome many
of curling's best teams to Italy?
To realize this event, the experience of expert figures from the world of curling was
needed, we have put together a work team made up of 15 people including legends of the
past, current players and expert local administrators. Thanks to the economic contribution
of the public and private sectors, we will be able to offer excellent playing conditions and
substantial prize money. It is an honor for us to be able to host the best teams in the world
here in Cortina and offer them the opportunity to play curling in the breathtaking land of
Pizza, Pasta and Mandolin.
How does hosting this event help in the development of Team Constantini in the
preparation for the 2026 Olympics?
This tournament will surely be another high-level event to add to Team Constantini's busy
schedule for the upcoming season, it will also be an opportunity to play in front of a large
home crowd, something that has never happened before.

What does having an event at home mean to your team?
We are thrilled about it, because it would be our first important event at home. It will also
mean to have the crowd cheering for us and that’s something that we are not used to but
that we would like to experience somehow before the Olympic Games in 2026. For us
everything counts and we will get the best out of it, trying to do whatever it takes to be in
shape for the event. We will play the tournament conscious that in a few years, under that
same ice, there will be the rings that every athlete wants to experience. Those feelings fill
our hearts and hopes that people can get closer to our sport through this event.
What are the team's goals for this season?
The focus on the first half of the season is mainly the European Championship in
November as we are aiming to qualify for the Worlds in March and to improve the 4th
place from last season. On the other side we will prepare for this appointment through the
WCT tournaments, which are also crucial in order to maintain a good spot in the world
ranking so that we can be into as many Grand Slams as possible too.
