Constantini Wins North Grenville Women's Classic

Stefania Constantini (Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy) won the North Grenville Women's Fall Curling Classic, defeating Hailey Armstrong (Ottawa, ON) 10-1 on Sunday.

Constantini with Marta Lo Deserto at third, Angela Romei and Giulia Zardini Lacedelli on the front end, while Armstrong receives $4,500CDN and 24.750 world ranking points for their second place finish.

Starting with hammer, Constantini blanked the first end, got on the board scoring 1 in the second end. Armstrong to a single in the third end to even the game at 1. Constantini scored 3 in the fourth end, then stole two in the fifth end and added another steal of 4 in the sixth end to receive an early concession.

To advance to the championship game, Constantini won 6-3 over Ottawa's Danielle Inglis in the semifinals and won 7-1 over Winnipeg's Kristy Watling in the quarterfinals. Armstrong won 8-5 over Ikue Kitazawa of Nagano, Japan and 9-6 over Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville in the quarterfinals.

Inglis and Kitazawa earned $3,000CDN and 19.125 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Kitazawa defeated Seungyoun Ha of Chuncheon, Korea, 7-5, while Inglis defeated EunJung Kim of Gangneung, Korea, 6-5.

Constantini finished 3-0 in the 24-team triple knockout qualifying round. In their opening game, Constantini defeated Chantal Osborne (Thurso, QC) 7-6, then won 6-5 against Chelsea Brandwood (Niagara Falls, ON) and won 8-0 against Kerry Galusha (Yellowknife, NT) in the A-Qualifier game to advance to the playoff round.

Constantini improves to 17-11 on the season, having reach the final at the Euro Super Series in August in Scotland the semifinals at the Baden Masters in Switzerland and twice into the quarterfinals at the Grand Slam Tour Challenge the and Insitu Players Open.
