Jones Back to Their Winning Ways

After going winless at the Karuizawa International, Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg) started out o the winning side on Day 1 of the WFG Masters. Jones with Karlee Burgess at third, Emily Zacharias and Lauren Lenentine on the front end gave up a steal to city-rivals skipped by Kate Cameron, who's returned to Manitoba after competing for the last few seasons in Alberta. Cameron with Meghan Walter at third, Taylor McDonald at second and Mackenzie Elias at lead scored another single in the third end to lead 2-1. From there, it was Jones who took control of the game, getting a pair in the fourth end to take their first lead, then extending the advantage to 4-2 by stealing the fifth end. Cameron got one back in the sixth end, but Jones scored one in the eighth end to seal the 5-3 victory. Jones improved to 28-16 on the season with the win, coming off a winless 0-4 result at the Karuizawa International two weeks ago. Jones has made the playoffs in four of the eight events they've played, but they have maximize those playoff results with a title win at the HearingLife Tour Challenge, finiishing second at the Saville Shootout and the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic along with a semifinals appearance at the KIOTI National. Jones is back on the ice on Wednesday at Noon Central Time against Winnipeg's Kerri Einarson, the takes on Japan's Satsuki Fujisawa at 8 pm on Thursday and finishes round-robin play at 3:30 pm on Friday against Italy's Stefania Constantini. Cameron plays Tabitha Peterson of Chaska, Minnesota on Wedneday at Noon Central Time, then takes on Delaney Strouse of Traverse City, Michigan at 8 pm on Thursday. Cameron finishes their round-robin with a match against World-#2 ranked Eunji Gim on Friday at 3:30 pm Jones has a career record of 35 wins and 19 losses in this her 10th appearances at the WFG Masters, winning in 2017. .
