Sluchinski Grinding the B-Side in Beaumont

Calgary's Aaron Sluchinski (photo: Anil Mungal, GSOC) plays Justin Runciman of Edmonton on the B-Side at the Hack2House Alberta Curling Series Major. Sluchinski, with Jeremy Harty at third, Kyle Doering at second and Dylan Webster at lead, dropped a 7-5 decision to Trevor Bonot of Thunder Bay in their opening decision. Sluchinski returns to the ice in the afternoon draw, their game against Runciman beginning at 2 pm MT. Game 2: Sluchinski vs. Runciman Receiving the opening round bye, Sluchinski starting out scoring one with the hammer in the first end. Bonot, with Mike McCarville, Jordan Potts and Kurtis Byrd won their opening game 9-3 over Andrew Hodgson of Red Deer. Bonot, got one back in the second end with Sluchinski open a two point lead into the fourth end. Bonot came back with four points to head into the game's halfway points with a their own two point lead. Sluchinski scored two in the fifth end to even the score. Bonot blanked the sixth end, then scored a single in the seventh end to head into the final end up one point without hammer. Sluchinski attempted a double tap to tie the game, but was unable to execute the difficult shot. The Hack2House ACS Men's Major is the first event of the Alberta Curling Series, with nine more events planned through the fall calendar schedule. All events occur at the Beaumont Curling Club, about 45 minutes southeast of Edmonton. All games are streamed free through CurlingZone and the Alberta Curling Series YouTube channels by Curling Stadium. Knockout bracket play continues through the weekend, with the 8-team quarterfinals going Sunday at 9 am Mountain Time (MT). The championship final follows at 3 pm.
