Carruthers into Playoffs in Beaumont

Carruthers only needed a little time, breaking open their A-qualifier game against Saskatoon's Dustin Kaltoff, scoring a single in the first end, then stealing five after a disastrous second end by the Saskatchewan side.
Game 2: Carruthers vs. Kalthoff
Kalthoff drops to the B-event where they will get a second chance to book their playoff berth, playing Evan van Amsterdam on Saturday at 1 pm Mountain Time (MT).
Carruthers is joined into the playoffs through the A-event by two Japanese teams, Takumi Maeda of Tokoro and Yusuke Morozumi of Karuizawa.
Carruthers won 5-3 over New Zealand's Anton Hood in their opening game Friday morning.
Game 1: Carruthers vs. Hood
Teams compete through the 18-team triple knockout qualifying round, where one loss drops a team into the B-event, while a second loss puts teams into the C-event.
Three teams advance through the A-event, with 3 through the B-event and 2 more through the C-event to form the 8-team single knockout championship.
Sunday's Final goes at 3 pm at the Beaumont Curling Club in Beaumont, Alberta.
