Watling Lone Canadians Left at Dekalb
Kristy Watling (Winnipeg, MB) is the only Canadian Team to advance to the semi-final at the Dekalb Superspiel after defeating Kate Cameron (St Aldophe, MB) 5-3.

The #54 world ranked Kristy Watling(Winnipeg) with Laura Burtnyk at third, Emily Deschenes and Sarah Pyke on the front end look to make their first event final of the season.
In their ninth event of the season, Watling qualified for playoffs in two other events, falling in the quarterfinals of the Icebreaker Challenge and in the semi-finals of the MCT Atkins Curling Supplies Classic.
Watling qualified through the C-side giving the first end hammer advantage to Kate Cameron(St. Aldophe) who qualified on the A-side.
The scoring started in the second end when Watling stole three points after Cameron was heavy on a draw to the four foot. Cameron elected to blank the fourth end after not being able to find an opportunity for two.
In the fourth end, Cameron was forced to play an angle slash for one to go down 3-1.
The fifth and sixth ends were both steal of one's for Cameron after a missed hit and stick and a draw to the button by Watling.
Watling looked to regain momentum into the seventh end but rolled out on a hit and stick for two taking a one point lead into the eight. In the eighth end, Cameron missed a open hit for one and left a steal of one and the 5-3 victory for Watling.
Watling finished 3-2 in the 20-team qualifying round. In their opening game, Watling defeated Strouse 7-6(Traverse City, MI), then went on to lose 6-5 against Cameron. Watling lost 6-5 to Robyn Despins (Thunder Bay, NO) where Watling responded with a 5-3 win over Serena Gray-Withers (Edmonton, AB). Watling won 8-4 against Despins in their final qualifying round match.
Watling will meet Bobae Kang(Gangneung, KOR) in the semi final for a spot into the championship game, while the other semi final will be between Eunjung Kim (Gangneung, KOR) and Ikue Kitazawa (Nagano, JPN).
Both semi-finals will take place at 3:00 pm Central Time (CT), while the final will be at 6:30 pm CT.
