McDonald into Dekalb Superspiel semi-final

#16 year-to-date (YTD) ranked Jordan McDonald (Winnipeg)Â Â with Dallas Burgess at third, Elias Huminicki and Cameron Olafson on the front end continue to climb the world ranking.Â
Fresh out of juniors, McDonald has qualified for playoffs in all nine events they have played in this season, winning the U25 NextGen Classic and the MCT Curling Cup, putting them into contention for the Grand Slams next season.Â
The team faced Winnipeg's Hayden Forrester, taking the hammer due to McDonald's undefeated record through the qualifying round.Â
McDonald applied pressure early, making a wide-open hit and stick for a deuce in the opening end. Forrester failed to make an eight-foot tap back for a second point in the second end.
McDonald broke the game open early, making a half a rock-slash double for four points in the third, adding one more to their total in the fourth, when Forrester missed a triple for a blank.
McDonald finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. McDonald defeated Wesley Wendling (Chaska, MN) 6-1 in their opening game. Then, McDonald won 6-5 against Caden Hebert (Eau Claire, WI) and 7-1 against Ethan Sampson(Chaska, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
They will face provincial rival Braden Calvert(Winnipeg) in the semi-finals. They have a 0-1 record versus Calvert after losing to them in the Red Deer Curling Classic last weekend.
The other semi-final will be between Timothy Hodek(Fargo, ND) and Brett Walter(Winnipeg).
The Semis will be at 3:00 p.m. Central Time (CT), while the finals will be at 6:30 p.m. CT.Â
