Epping adds third event title this season
Sudbury's John Epping defeated Switzerland's Michael Brunner 8-1 to win the Stu Sells Waters Living Waters Collingwood Classic.

John Epping(Sudbury), with Jake Horgan at third, Tanner Horgan and Ian McMillan on the front end, continue their impressive season with another event win.
Epping, currently ranked 7th in the Year-To-Date (YTD), took over this young squad from Northern Ontario as the import this season, having Tanner Horgan step down to a front-end role.
World ranked #33 before the season, Epping is currently ranked #11, also being in Grand Slam contention for the future
Epping took on Michael Brunner(Bern, SUI) in the final Sunday evening. Both teams were undefeated, forcing a draw to the button for the hammer in the first end, leaving Brunner out drawing Epping for the hammer.
In the first end, Epping forced Brunner to make a hack weight around the guard, which drove past the targeted stone, leaving an early three-point lead.
In aggressively trying to get two points back, Brunner was forced into a draw to the eight foot for one. In the next end, Epping made a half-rock double for two points
Epping kept the pressure, stealing one after a missed double by Brunner, also adding a steal of two after a missed triple, ending the game in after five ends with an 8-1 final score.
Epping finished 2-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. In their opening game, Epping defeated Landan Rooney (Collingwood, ON) 7-3, then won 5-2 against Owen Purcell(Halifax, NS) in their A-side qualifier round.
Epping won 8-2 over Scott Howard(Navan, ON) in the semifinals and 7-4 over Jayden King(London, ON) in the quarterfinals.
Epping added their third event win of the season, winning in the KW Fall Classic and the Stu Sells Toronto Tankard.
Their next event is December 13-16 at the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
