Shorty Jenkins Classic Women's Field Announced
Xenia Schwaller's breakout season began in Cornwall, and she returns there as a world champion. The Zurich skip won the Shorty Jenkins as one of her first events last fall, then dropped her opener at the world championship in Calgary in March and never lost again, beating Canada 7-5 for gold. Kerri Einarson, on the wrong end of that final, returns with a reshaped lineup that brings in Jocelyn Peterman at lead and vice-skip following Val Sweeting's departure. Alina Pätz is back behind her own team for the first time since Silvana Tirinzoni's retirement, three years after lifting this title as Tirinzoni's fourth. Christina Black's Nova Scotia rink, Japan's Team Ueno and a Kayla Skrlik squad remade around Myla Plett, Sarah Koltun and Samantha Fisher fill out the 14-team, $45,000 field.
