Camp Weekend for Einarson

Kerri Einarson's rink continued laying the groundwork for the 2026-27 season with a training camp at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton. The University of Alberta facility serves as Canada's national training centre and offers ten sheets of championship-level ice, making it a familiar destination for teams building toward a new season. For the Gimli, Man.-based side, the camp represents an early chance to put reps behind a lineup that looks different from the one that closed out last year.

Einarson remains at skip, with Shannon Birchard moving up to third and Karlee Burgess sliding to second, while two-time Olympian Jocelyn Peterman joins at lead and vice. Peterman, who lives in Chestermere, Alta., arrives from Kaitlyn Lawes' Winnipeg rink and will call skip stones from the tee. The overhaul came quickly after last season's finish: days after a runner-up result at the World Women's Curling Championship in Calgary, the team parted ways with longtime third Val Sweeting, alternate Krysten Karwacki and coach Reid Carruthers. The remaining core has been among Canada's most successful of the decade, with five Scotties Tournament of Hearts titles since 2020 and three world championship medals since 2022 - bronze in 2022 and 2023, and silver this past March. Birchard and Burgess will continue as the primary sweeping duo.

Einarson will open their season at the Saville Shootout, held September 11-14 at the Saville Community Sports Centre.
