Olympic champion Scharback drops in on Women in Curling Summit

Saskatchewan's curling community had a two-time Olympic gold medallist, Sofia Scharback, in the room Saturday.

Scharback, lead for Anna Hasselborg's Swedish rink, joined the 2026 Women in Curling Summit at the Martensville Curling Club, spending the day with curlers from across the province, trading stories and digging into the technical side of the game.

Scharback comes to the summit fresh off the highest point of her career. She threw lead stones as Sweden edged Switzerland 6-5 in the Milano Cortina 2026 gold medal game, eight years after the same foursome of Hasselborg, Sara McManus, Agnes Knochenhauer and Scharback stood atop the podium in PyeongChang. Her resume also includes nine world championship appearances and eight Grand Slam titles, most recently the 2025 Masters.

The CurlSask-organized summit brings women from every corner of Saskatchewan together for a day built around learning, connection and celebrating the women's game, and the organizers extended their thanks to everyone who helped make this year's edition happen.
