Ueno Forfeits Match, Ineligible for Ranking points at Stu Sells
Japan's Miyu Ueno, the reigning National Champion, saw Yui Ueno fall ill at the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in Ontario.
After winning their first game against Ottawa's Emma Acres, Yui could not continue, and the team forfeited their second match to Toronto's Hollie Duncan. Ueno was hopeful for Yui to return, sacrificing a game to give their teammate time to improve, but unfortunately she could not continue.
Team Ueno is no longer eligible for World Curling Team Ranking points, but continues to chase a satellite berth into the Grand Slam of Curling event in December. Kirsten Wall of Oakville replaced Yui, the alternate on Jennifer Jones' 2014 Olympic gold-medal winner and long-time teammate of Sherry Middaugh.
