Camm back at skip with new Navan rink for KW opener
Jason Camm is calling the shots again. After two seasons throwing second stones for Scott Howard, the 31-year-old from Rockland is skipping his own team out of the Navan Curling Club this season, with Sam Wills at third, Wyatt Small at second and Nathan Steele at lead.
The new foursome gets its first look at tour competition this weekend at the Hogged Rock KW Fall Classic presented by Runback Brewing, September 4-7 at the KW Granite Club in Waterloo.
Camm has been here before. He skipped his own Ottawa-area rink from 2019 to 2024, reaching a career-best 10th in the CTRS standings in 2023-24 and making the Stu Sells Halifax Classic final in 2022, before joining Howard alongside older brother Mat. That Howard team came within a semifinal of the Canadian Olympic Pre-Trials final last season and finished fourth at the Ontario Tankard. Mat is stepping away from competitive curling, and the split sent Jason back to the position where he first made his name, winning Ontario bantam titles as a skip in 2011.
The KW field is a solid early measuring stick, and with an Ottawa-region roster in an Ontario Tankard cycle that has opened up considerably after a season of lineup churn, an early qualifying run in Waterloo would go a long way toward setting the tone for Camm's return to the skip position.
